Sclerotherapy
Effectively treat and reduce the appearance of spider and varicose veins for smoother, healthier-looking skin.
Sclerotherapy is a well-proven and effective treatment for varicose veins and spider veins. This treatment has been used since the 1930s with very good results and is often the preferred treatment for small varicose veins.
Dr. Weniger, Dr. Traywick, and Susan Coker, PA-C perform sclerotherapy in the office setting at LUX~A Medical Spa in Bluffton, South Carolina. The procedure typically takes anywhere from thirty to forty-five minutes to complete. Your provider will use a very fine needle to inject a special sclerosing solution directly into the diseased vein. The sclerosing solution causes the vein to scar and collapse. The blood then naturally reroutes to other healthy veins and the collapsed vein is reabsorbed by the local tissue over time. Patients may experience some mild discomfort or a cramping sensation during injection.
