Labiaplasty Bluffton
Benefits of labiaplasty
Labiaplasty is a minor surgical procedure to remove extra skin of the labia minora (inner labia), or skin that has become loose or has started to sag. Sometimes, labiaplasty includes the plumping of deflated labia majora with fat. Also, the hood of skin covering the clitoris can be reduced. While many women choose to have a labiaplasty in Bluffton, Hilton Head, Beaufort, South Carolina and Savannah, Georgia, following childbirth, women who have never given birth are also opting to have the procedure in increasing numbers.
What to expect in a consultation
During your consultation, your plastic surgeon will first take your complete medical history, including any known allergies to medication or sutures. After reviewing your medical history, you and your Bluffton, SC, plastic surgeon will talk about your goals for your labiaplasty procedure.
In many cases, you may be able to achieve your goals through a labiaplasty alone. In some cases, and especially after childbirth, your surgeon may also recommend a vaginoplasty, which can reconstruct areas that may have been damaged through vaginal birth, surgery, or for other pregnancy-related reasons. If you opt for a labiaplasty combined with a vaginoplasty, the length of your procedure and recovery time may vary from what is described below for a labiaplasty alone.
After discussing your goals and making any recommendations, your surgeon will review the labiaplasty procedure from the preparatory stage through to your full recovery. You will also be informed about any risks and options for financing your procedure. Finally, your consultation and preoperative visits are great times to ask any additional questions you may have about labiaplasty.
You will undoubtedly have questions about the cost of your labiaplasty procedure as well. Through CareCredit Patient Financing, you can receive the credit you need right away so you don’t have to wait to look and feel your best. Through CareCredit you can get interest-free loans starting at $300 and up to $25,000 with a wealth of payment plan options to choose from (up to 60 months). Candidates for labiaplasty
Today, many women feel as if their vagina, and/or labia, are as not beautiful anymore due to childbirth or other factors. Other women have always felt self-conscious or ashamed of how their vagina looks and wish they could do something about it. Sagging or extra skin can make women feel self-conscious in intimate situations or even cause them to pull back from seeking intimacy because of body self-consciousness. Luckily, this is correctable!
If you are in good physical health otherwise and have not recently had another surgical procedure you are still healing from (such as recent childbirth), you are an ideal candidate for labiaplasty.
Dr. Weniger’s office is located one-half hour from the city of Savannah, Georgia, in Bluffton, South Carolina, near Hilton Head Island.

Procedure
The actual labiaplasty procedure is simple and quick. It can be done in the plastic surgeon’s office, or in the surgery suite. In most cases, you will be given a choice of local or general anesthetic. The entire procedure will take less than one hour from start to finish and you can return home the same day (although you will need to have someone to drive you to and from the office on the day of your procedure).
The labiaplasty procedure itself is performed by making surgical incisions in the inner vaginal folds (called the “labia minor”). Following these incisions the undesired extra skin is removed. The incisions will be closed with dissolvable sutures, which means you won’t have to have sutures removed.
Recovery
Following your labiaplasty procedure and before coming from Bluffton, Hilton Head, Beaufort, South Carolina or Savannah, Georgia area your plastic surgeon will give you a prescription for pain medication which you can take as needed.
You will initially experience some light bruising and some swelling as the incisions heal, but this will fade quickly.
Unless your surgeon specifically states otherwise, you typically can return to your regular work schedule the day following your procedure. However, you will be asked to refrain from strenuous exercise and some more intense activities for up to six weeks to allow your body to full heal.
In nearly every case, you will be otherwise fully recovered in 7 to 14 days following your labiaplasty and able to return to your full normal schedule of activities.
