The Obagi Blue Peel® is a gentle chemical peel which combines a low concentration of trichloroacetic acid (TCA) with Obagi’s patented Blue Base. The Obagi Blue Peel® can treat a variety of skin conditions including wrinkles, uneven pigmentation, sun damage, acne scars and blemishes. The skin will appear smoother, healthier, firmer and more radiant after treatment.
The Obagi Blue Peel® can be tailored to the individual patient by adjusting the depth of the peel and the number of coats applied. While the face is commonly treated, other areas for treatment may include the neck, chest, back, arms, hands and legs. The Obagi Blue Peel® works by removing thin surface layers of aged and damaged skin to reveal the new, healthier skin below.
Weniger Plastic Surgery is located near Hilton Head, South Carolina and Savannah, Georgia. We perform the Obagi Blue Peel® as an in-office procedure at our state-of-the-art plastic surgery center. The treatment takes about twenty minutes to complete depending on the number of coats applied. It is a very tolerable treatment as patients experience just a mild burning sensation that lasts only a few minutes.
Following the Obagi Blue Peel® treatment, the skin will have a bluish tint but this will wash off within twelve to twenty-four hours. There may also be some minor swelling. Within about two to three days the skin will begin to peel and will continue to peel for several days. The peeling process does not disrupt most regular activity and most patients are fully healed within seven to ten days or sooner if a lighter peel is administered. Once the peeling process is complete the skin will look and feel dramatically improved and it will continued to improve over the next four to six weeks. Desired results are typically achieved with one to three peels performed at six- to eight-week intervals.
