BBL™, or BroadBand Light photo rejuvenation, is a non-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment. BBL™ can treat a variety of skin conditions including enlarged pores, irregular skin pigmentation like age spots and redness, sun damage, fine lines and other aging concerns, broken capillaries, acne, and other skin imperfections. BBL™ can also be used to treat unwanted spider veins, rosacea, cherry angiomas and vascular lesions. The procedure can smooth and tighten the skin and even the skin tone for a more youthful and refreshed appearance. Best of all, there is little to no downtime.
While many areas of the face and body can be treated with BBL™, common areas include the face, neck, chest and hands. The treatment takes approximately twenty to thirty minutes to complete depending on the size and number of areas that are being treated. There is minimal discomfort and patients often describe a sensation similar to that of a rubber band being snapped against the skin. If necessary, a topical anesthetic can be applied to maximize the patient’s comfort.
After treatment with BBL™, the skin may appear pink, red or flushed. This typically fades within a day if not sooner. Brown spots often appear darker after treatment but they will peel off within a week or so. Patients will need to wear sunscreen on the treated area for at least three weeks after treatment.
For optimal results a series of three to five treatments may be needed. Patients will see an improvement in their skin tone, texture and color after each treatment.
